It has been quite a while since I have thought about, or contributed to this blog at all. I just spent the evening reading another blog, decided to follow it, and then decided to take a quick looksie at my own.
All I can say is WOW! Things certainly have changed in my life! Getting married, raising a puppy, and going through infertility treatments have all really changed what I value in my life.
The biggest thing I realize that has significantly changed for me is how I value the time I spend with people. In the past good times almost always certainly involved alcohol. It has been over a month since I have had a drop of alcohol, and I must say I really do not miss it! I feel like I am forming much stronger bonds with my friends and family without it!
All in all - I am in a crazy weird spot in my life an very emotional with all the horones racing hrough my body!

Curious??? You should be!
Last night we decided to begin our annual trek of viewing all of the films that are nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. We began this quest with a $5.00 viewing of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
When I first saw trailers for this movie, I thought...kinda creepy...then...what the fuck...followed by...does Brad Pitt have a penis? I was, I admit, at least a little curious. And then the nominations were announced. So I thought "man...maybe this movie isn't as bad as it seems?" Boy...oh boy...was that wrong.
1) The movie is three fucking hours long. Now I have enough estrogen in my system to be able to appreciate the "epic" films out there...regardless of length. But, this 3 hour long extravaganza is based on a SHORT story. In fact you can read it for free on line in about 10 minutes.
2) Andy warned me on the way o the theater that it had been reported that there were many "similarities" between "The Button" and Forest Gump.

All in all the movie is okay? The only important parts are the beginning, and the end. They just happen to be a long drawn out 3 hours away from each other. So go read the short story version, and watch the funny or die video above and you will get more than your fair share of entertainment.
I must say one more thing before I sign off to prepare for B-Fest 2009...
I am still curious...very curious in fact...about who the fuck you have to blow to get your piece of shit film nominated for 13 Academy Awards?

Ties that bind
As the air gets colder, our steps get a little quicker, our clothing choices a bit warmer, and decisions to venture outdoors are pondered more heavily. You spend chilly November days doing things inside where it's warm to avoid the crisp bitter air.
Today was not one of those days.
Today was the type of day where you race back inside not because it's too darn cold outside, but because whats going on inside is like heroin. It has the power to med fences and build bridges. It has the power to forgive even the most hurtful of betrayals. It has the power to warm you so deeply, even the coldest of air could never cool you off.
My family has had more than its fair share of trials and tribulations. Heartache after heartache, betrayal upon betrayal, dysfunction on top of dysfunction, dislike, anger, animosity, hurt, mistrust, annoyance, and enough challenges to fill a congressional library. But there is something with the power to overcome all of that.
Love...the truly unconditional kind.
The tie that binds family eternally. No matter what has happened, what wrongs have been done, and what challenges we face. The thing that brings us together, and keeps us together. The thing that makes you sit back and realize that you are the luckiest person alive. The type of love that laughs in the face of adversity, and protects us from the threat of danger.
So while this has been an exhausting day...I am the happiest I have been in quite some time. The smell of turkey roasting in the oven, the sound of my brothers laughter, the light from my Father's radiant smile, the wetness of my nephews kisses, the firmness of my boyfriends hugs, the strength of my sister's helping hands, and most of all the overwhelming sense of peace that I am most certain came from the spirit of my mother watching over us.
I was constantly reminded of her today. From the things we ate, to the twinkle of Wayne's eyes, Eddies beautiful smile, and Megan's calming demeanor.
Thank God for Thanksgiving (Even a couple of days early), Thank God for Family, and Thank God for small miracles, that allow people like us to come together in days like these, and be able to enjoy each other so totally.
